Kentucky has an interesting history.

People came into Kentucky at least 
14,000 years ago. They probably followed mammoths and other large game that migrated away. Later Native American tribes like Cherokee and Chickasaw came.

It wasn't found by white settlers until 1774. Pioneers James Harrod and Daniel Boone founded other settlements in the year after. For a while Kentucky was considered part of Virginia until 1818 after being bought from the Chickasaw tribe.

When the Civil War was happening, Kentucky was neutral.Yet 140,000 of its people went to war.
